About Me
Hi, I’m Joe, a former freestyle wrestler, black belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu, and the founder of Wrestling For Jiu Jitsu.
I started grappling back in 2007 with freestyle wrestling when I was 16 years old, which I did for 6 years. During this time I competed and medalled in national competitions and taught people of varying abilities and ages, from 5 year olds to adults, including many people with varying learning difficulties.
I then moved on to Brazilian jiu jitsu in 2013 and have taught kids for the majority of that time. I began teaching wrestling classes specifically for jiu jitsu in 2015 adapting the techniques I learned in freestyle wrestling to work for the bjj ruleset.
I decided to start Wrestling For Jiu Jitsu as a way of helping people to improve their takedowns, offering private one-to-one and small group sessions (up to 3 people) operating out of London Grapple and Commando Temple, both in Deptford, Southeast London.
I plan my sessions based on my clients individual experience level and body type, starting with fundamental movements and concepts, building up to chaining techniques together to ensure maximum success on the mats.
